How Referrals Work at ConsumerProposal.ca

You can contact a Licensed Insolvency Trustee directly. If you ask us about an introduction, you should know who receives your details and why before anything is shared.

You always have a direct route

A referral from ConsumerProposal.ca is optional. The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy provides an official directory where you can find licensed professionals yourself. Our LIT guide explains how to check a licence and prepare questions for a first meeting.

Choose a professional based on your needs, their licensing and the explanation they provide. You do not need to pay an intermediary to gain access to the official directory.

Before a future introduction

  1. Know the recipient. We will identify the professional or firm proposed for your introduction.
  2. Understand the relationship. We will explain any relevant partnership, referral compensation or other commercial interest before you choose to proceed.
  3. Choose what is shared. We will explain which contact details would be passed on and seek your agreement first.
  4. Decide for yourself. An introduction is not a recommendation that a consumer proposal is suitable. Your options require an individual assessment.

Commercial transparency

This website is intended to operate with disclosed LIT referrals. No specific compensation arrangement is represented on this launch page. We will not describe a paid relationship as independent advice or present a referral partner as the only professional you can contact.

Education, calculator access and reading the official resources do not depend on accepting an introduction. If a proposed relationship is unclear, ask the website team for the details before agreeing to share information.

Your information and your request

The contact form asks for your name, email and province or territory. Phone and message fields are optional. Do not send your SIN, bank credentials, account numbers or documents through this form. Read the privacy notice for the current handling of contact details.

To ask a question, correct your details or withdraw an uncompleted introduction request, use our contact form. If information has already been shared with your agreement, we can explain the recipient so you can also contact them directly.

Clear about our role. ConsumerProposal.ca is an educational publisher, not a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. This page provides general information, not advice for your circumstances. Read our referral disclosure.

A little more clarity

Let’s get started.

Send us a message about your next step. Your request currently goes to the ConsumerProposal.ca team, not directly to a Licensed Insolvency Trustee.

Please do not include your SIN, account numbers, banking details or financial documents. We are not an LIT. Any later introduction to an LIT will be explained before your information is shared.
