About ConsumerProposal.ca: Clarity Comes First

Understanding your options should feel easier. We explain consumer proposals and other debt solutions in plain language, so you can prepare for an informed conversation.

A useful starting point

Financial problems can make even a simple decision feel complicated. ConsumerProposal.ca brings together explanations, comparison guides and practical tools for Canadians who want to understand consumer proposals, bankruptcy alternatives and everyday debt decisions.

You can read the guides and use the payment calculator without creating an account or sending us contact information. Our aim is to help you understand the questions to ask, the terms you may hear and the trade-offs worth discussing with a qualified professional.

What you can expect here

  • Plain explanations: what an option involves and what it may mean for your payments, credit and responsibilities.
  • Visible sources: links to government guidance and legislation beside consequential claims.
  • Useful limits: examples are labelled as examples, and calculator results are arithmetic rather than offers.
  • Your choice: you can contact an LIT directly. You do not need a referral from this website.

Education and introductions

The site is intended to support educational content with disclosed professional referrals. At launch, contact requests go to the website team while the intake process is being tested. They do not go directly to an LIT. We do not currently publish an active partner roster or claim nationwide appointment availability.

Before a future introduction, we will identify the proposed recipient, explain any relevant commercial relationship and seek your agreement to share your details. Read how referrals work before deciding whether to contact us.

Help us improve the resource

If an explanation seems unclear, a link is broken or a source has changed, use our contact form with the page address and the concern. Please avoid sending account numbers or financial documents. Our editorial policy explains how we approach sources, corrections and authorship.

Clear about our role. ConsumerProposal.ca is an educational publisher, not a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. This page provides general information, not advice for your circumstances. Read our referral disclosure.

A little more clarity

Let’s get started.

Send us a message about your next step. Your request currently goes to the ConsumerProposal.ca team, not directly to a Licensed Insolvency Trustee.

Please do not include your SIN, account numbers, banking details or financial documents. We are not an LIT. Any later introduction to an LIT will be explained before your information is shared.
